      What's the dirtiest gun you've ever come across?

      I picked up a Remington 550 on a whim from a well respected local shop. Receiver is full of oil, grease, powder residue, and what looks like tar, but it shoots. Also a Remington 514 from same shop. Could not see through bore until they found a cleaning rod and pushed out years of spider webs.

      You do you, but I've killed automatic transmissions by towing just below the rating. Didn't help brake and tire life either.

      The 1903 for Air Service was made in 1918 with a 25 round fixed magazine. This says 1903a3 (WWII) and 20 round magazine. Needs more research.

      I have the Wheeler spring gauge. I got it on sale. Very repeatable. Goes to 8 lbs, so not good for double-action, but works for everything else I have.

      I love how the industry with the help of gun mag writers have convinced many people that guns do not have to be reliable out of the box. We are responsible for break-in and tweaking. I guess that's why I don't buy many new guns. I would also argue that 50 years ago, other than target shooters...
