The way, way high pattern from My 14 Beezer SMLE with the Morris .22 RF conversion was caused by barrel tension!
I finally go to the range & started by firing a 3 round group just as it was set before It was still massively high.
Next I started taking tension off the muzzle nut 1/4 turn at a...
When I took 4 X 6 gallon Nalagene "Jerry Cans" from the plant that was closing down & we were told to "take everything rather than pay for disposal."
I ordered them from new years before & know 100% for sure they have only ever held pure distilled water.
Well yesterday, with zero warning out 20...
I recently annealed a batch of bottleneck R-P .303 British cases I'd been gifted with. They're listed as "once fired".
As part of brass prep I annealed them using my normal tools techniques & times.
The cases were in a deep well socket spun continuously by an electric screwdriver.
I heated over...

Has anyone "tuned" a tubed .22 shooter by adjusting sub-caliber tension?
I'm curious because I have an SMLE with a sub caliber .22RF "trainer barrel" conversion kit. I recently re-crowned it because under bore-scope inspection it was really rough. When reinstalled it shot better groups than...
(Whyle E Coyote school of Gunsmiffin').
Put a target type folding peep-sight, an A.G. Parker No9W, on an SMLE,.22 conversion. The front sight was way too short, even bottomed out on the elevator & with the bolt knob bouncing the windage arm every time it cycled it was 5" high!
Globe sights are...
I ask because of this interesting close up shot.
Its about 1/3 of the way into the barrel from the chamber end & I only found it recently while using a bore-scope to check for cleaning of fouling.
3 parallel transverse grooves very evenly spaced with an attendant smaller transverse groove...
The "real deal" (AKA Stand Oil), not the Home Improvement store chemical rubbish.
I have a bottle almost full, but the cap is glued to the glass bottle neck threads, & it's an "Adult Proof push down & twist" type!
I can push down & I can turn the outside but internally the ratchet just clicks no...
I have been given what I believe is a fine, hard, Arkansas stone for blade sharpening (the yellowish-gray thing next to the pouch on the left). I have & use a Lansky 5 stone set which is oiled, but this stone will be with me whenever the knife is for touch ups re edging & so on.
I've heard...
I know Amazon has caved & so have some others but does anyone know of a CURRENT as of today 3/24 place to download this app.
I get several leads but one at a time they block in all sorts of creative ways.
Anyone know a current source for good, modern shoulder straps for a Large ALICE pack on an ALICE (not Molle) frame?
I'm looking for something with a QR strap & more padding than the Milsurp & with a Sternum strap.
If anyone had the real skinny on adapting the Molle 2 from experience that will do...
Because it has a long, thin, format to it.
So I scratched my head a bit & then dreamed this up.
Left an ex-mummy Fazakerly '55 No4 Mk2 ersatz sniper with an ART-2.
Right a minty Lithgow '44 SMLE with a Central No4 target sight.
Yeah, I know bayonets on a sniper, worse a "Land Service" to boot...
If you have magnesium wire/ribbon as part of your fire-starting kit & one of those electric plasma arc lighters, they don't play well together!
The arc lighters are great & solar rechargeable via USB so ever lasting (more or less).
But the plasma arc shorts when magnesium is introduced as it...
"Victoria" is back at home, finally after over a year with the first 'Smith who just sat on it till I had to reclaim it from when I moved.
Thanks to "Doco Overboard" she is now proudly wearing her custom-fitted .22RF conversion kit! This is my "tip 'o the hat" to those '50's shooters with the...
Anyone have a recommendation based on ownership?
It going to be used on mostly milsurps which bring a few unique things into play.
It will be used on a Lee Enfield No4 Mk2, A Lee Enfield SMLE, a second SMLE, but with the .22 sub caliber insert barrel tube, A Lee Enfield No5 Mk1 "Jungle Carbine"...
Buy, rent or just pillage for a week!
I have a front sight blade that is NOT responding well to being beaten into submission.
I just need it long enough to get whats left of the old one out, the dovetail dressed a tad & the new one pushed in.
Talbot Co.
Thanks
Anyone know?
I heard someone pretty close by firing yesterday, it sounded like a .22RF & they seemed to be sighting in or something similar?
15~20 shots spaced out well.
