I bought this 1975 19-3. It is Black in color. I can not find where smith and wesson made a 19-3 in black. Any ideas? The gun is in new condition.

    Somebody probably had it anodized.

Parked. All steel gun. I've got a 19-3 snubbie in blue, and it's gorgeous, almost too pretty to shoot. They also made them in nickel, but no park from the factory. Although back in the day, you could order almost anything from S&W. Possibly the finish got very worn or pitted, and the owner decided this was the cheap way to go. I paid $725 for mine a year ago, no box or papers, and it was actually something of a bargain. A 95% gun these days would probably bring at least $800, because 2 1/2" guns are in hot demand.

Should have come from factory with high-polish blue finish. My guess is somebody wanted it for CCW or seriously hosed up the original finish and opted to black parkerize refinish it. Search in Google images for "S&W 19 parkerized". Lots of examples that look about the same.

    Also got these S&W Revolvers

I also got these today. Model 60 from 1969, NIB with paperwork and cleaning kit.
Model 66-1 from 1979, with paperwork and cleaning kit. Really pleased with the purchase. Let me know what you think.

I know I'm jealous of them. They look great. I really want to get a revolver but I've had to put it on hold for a while. I'm no expert but I'd say if the price was right then you did great.

Thanks SRD, I have one more on the way, NIB from 1973. I will post pic when I get it. It's a model 27 4" 357 blue.

Nice pickup. These are great investments because you have the original boxes.

Yeah, shame about the parkerized finish. I just missed picking up a nice blued 19-3 for $395 at the one of the last of the PG Equestrian Center gun shows. The guy ahead of me picked it up and never set it down. I was that close.

A blued 19-3 does not come along very often. Considered rare.

Your model 19-3 has definitely been refinished and it will, without a doubt, perform beaufully. Your 66-1 is magnificent!
I love these models and have a blued 19-3 2.5", a nickel 19-3 2.5" and a 66-1 2.5". I've been trying to post pics but Photobucket will not play nice.

Huckleberry has a good idea about the letter from Roy Jinks but it'll cost $50.00 and take months to get due to a major backlog of requests. You have a nice shooter, enjoy it.
