Reminds me of how to hunt grizzlies with an AR.

Make sure you use one with minimal protrusions on the upper. So no front sight base, no carry handle, no optics.

If you do hit a bear, it won't hurt so much when the annoyed grizzly grabs the AR and shoves it up your keister.

There are plenty AR's that shoot sump'in bigger then a 22 pellet.

And they are carried for protection in the big wild north.

I don't hunt and I realize that a .223 round isn't the preferred round for large game but I doubt very seriously that a Grizzly is going to take 20 or 30 rounds of .223 and be in fighting shape.

I think it was only recently that Canada gave up on its long gun registration plan, when nobody bothered to comply.

Timely bit of crisis; trust Trudeau to jump all over it.

Reminds me of a joke I heard... a long time ago in another country, which has a lot of bears.

A man went hunting in the forest, with a shotgun.
After walking for a while, he spotted a bear.
He took a shot, but it had no effect.
The bear charged at him... he was frozen in his tracks.
Just when he could feel its hot breath in his face,
The bear grabbed him, threw him over a log, and had its way with him.

Furious and humiliated, he returned the next day with a hunting rifle.
After walking for a while, he spotted the same bear.
He fired at it, but it had no effect. The bear charged at him again...
Picked him up, threw him over a log, and had its way with him.

Angry beyond belief, he returned with an Ak.
He spotted the bear, and emptied the magazine at it.
Again, the bear charged at him... picked him up...
This time it paused and looked him in the eye and said
"You don't come out here for the huntin', do you?"

I am just surprised they didn’t ban and confiscate handguns also. Trudeau and his government have made it very clear guns cannot and will not be used for self defense and therefore handguns have no purpose in their society. They’ve been itching to ban all handguns for a long time.

Also RCMP STILL is not releasing a ton of info, but what they have released he did not have a firearm permit. So he could not have legally purchased the firearm. It appears only 1 of the 4 firearms he used was for sure from Canada. The other 3 are “unknown origin” at this time.

IE they don’t know if he did buy or steal them in Canada or in the US and snuck them back over the border.

In an ideal world, I’d like to see a policy where we cut diplomatic and trade ties with dictators and countries who don’t respect civil rights.

I’d say I’m hoping for Canadians to stand up for themselves, but after they let PM Aladdin start charging people with hate speech I think anyone with a spine up there already left.

I admit I'm not big on love for the AR platform, but I can think of several handguns I would prefer in this application. Grizzlies are a whole different animal than cuddly black bears. Truth be told, I'd probably crap my pants before I could shoot twice with a 30-06.

AR platform would be good against a similarly armed tyrannical government. Which is much scarier than a griz.

That's assuming all 30 rounds hit. Even then, it'll take a little while to bleed out. Unless you blow out the heart, disrupt the brain or severe the nervous system, I'd be willing to be that bear will close on you and kill you long before it bleeds out from .223 rounds.

American leftists are going to be watching how this plays out, to get their playbook ready.

******It's already being spoken about here in this area on the book of faces. There are a lot of Moms Demand Action members here in MoCo and they are very much for this sort of policy here in the US, except they also want to ban handguns as well. Forcible confiscation, whatever it takes - as long as it's not them doing the confiscation, or any of their relatives...
