  • Start with a 45 receiver. Bazooka Brothers makes a dedicated 45 AR lower than uses greasegun mags.

Olympic (I think) makes one that uses Glock mags.

MGI makes a "modular" lower that can use different magwells, one is 45 and uses greasegun mags.

Get an upper, and it's pretty much a standard AR build.

I predict AR's in 45 acp are going to get very popular in the next year or so.

The thing is, a 45 AR is a dedicated lower. You can't build it on a standard type lower by adding a mag block like you can a 9mm.

    Because they're awesome.

And people are starting to accumulate enough of the "standard" AR's - 5.56, 9mm, 22's, and it's showing in the market. Prices are falling, and sales are leveling off. Mfr's will begin offering more AR stuff in non-traditional calibers, and the market, saturated with "normal" AR's, will have increased demand again.

6.8, .300, and 45 are gonna be more popular in the future.
