    Just for clarification for those just starting out. The HBAR only applies to 223/5.56.

    But only based on MSP interpretation.

    The law does not specify caliber for AR, unlike some other rifles.

    Thank you for clarifying. Certainly realize many on here had a lot to do with this, so no disrespect was intended by giving undue credit.

    No disrespect taken, there were plenty of shoulders that year to carry the load and then some. I was just clarifying how the exemption came to be from the beginning.

    I think that is the only interpretation that matters but I also think it’s correct. The law bans the colt AR 15 and sar or car 15. Can’t remember the exact name. Anyway those are 223/5.56. So to be banned under the copycat the parts would need to be interchangeable. Now I know some of the calibers is just a barrel change but some it’s much more and that does change the gun. Just like the M1A in 6.5. Just my take on it and fortunately MDSP’s also.
