Here is the Maryland State Police website for banned firearms. This can help you out finding a rifle that's legal.

I am intimately farmiliar with the MDSP list. On that list there is a banned weapon with LZ114 as the model number, hence the reason for my question.

However, the Saiga 223 is IZ114 not LZ. I believe the Maryland State Police made a typo and my FFL was willing to register one. I almost bought one online, however I decided against it. The intent on the mdsp site is clear and while it is true that the firearm is now not technically banned by name I do not want to be the one to register it and then deal with all of the consequences of trying to prove that they screwed up.

I wouldn’t submit it for review- looks like that’s what happened in 2015 with the one the OP questioned. Seems as though they update this list beyond the original 2013 intentions.

Right the L Z114 as in Larry is Banned. But if you look at the actual Rifle its I Z114 as in Ivan hence my question

There is no LZ, only IZ. I would bet you won’t find an FFL to transfer that in. It’s a typo.

That's exactly what I was saying all along. I know it's a typo and found an FFL who said he theoretically could register it but decided I didn't want to take that chance
