    Beginning to contemplate my next 1911. The SA EMP has caught my eye— but the price-tag seems a little steep. Is this a reflection of the current state of the enterprise or has this particular SA model always been 3-4 hundred dollars more than its other SA brothers and sisters? If so, what makes it worth the difference?

    The EMP was never a low cost item. Was pricey for awhile, then got more reasonable. Popular gun. The early ones had a few specimens with feed issues, magazine based IIRC. They straightened that out fairly quick.

    Never had one, never shot one. Just what I garnered from the 1911forum.

    Ok, now I have to go fondle my 1911s again. They are my favorite pistols...

    I can’t tell how many I had. How many I sold to thin the herd. How many I sold to fund my son and I to Philmont, NM. I can’t say how many I have. I do know the 1911 is not quite half my number of handguns. They do get fruitful and multiply. Very few of mine are close to or as produced. There is a website..1911addicts. Amply named.

    My very favorite handgun...5.5” Ruger Redhawk.

    Wheel guns are different and I have my Favorites but that is much different. I like a single action 45colt more then anything else in a wheel gun.

    Thanks—- that’s helpful. I’d feel a little better spending the amount asked knowing it’s not part of the recent trend.

    Came across this from SAM (shooters arms manufacturing).

    Yes. It takes Glock mags.

    Here you go. Colt Govt. (top), Mustang (bottom). Govt. has a longer barrel and bushing.

    My favorite is an 'Old" Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt.

    1911's some stock, some customs, some started out as a bunch of parts ;);) in boxes / bins

    Sounds like you get the same “yes sir!” I get at gun shows when you find parts tables.

    :lol2::lol2:
    How'd you guess? "Yes Sir" I definitely seek out the parts tables, Just
    like the kid in the candy store, only thing is it costs way more. Look for
    things at each and figure out what I may need them for or what I need
    to go with what's in the "parts bin(s) Started on some project "builds"
    that have been on the back burner for years.
