Which 1911 magazines do you use? Which have been great and which have been dogs?

I just bought 2 1911's and need to pick up a couple of magazines for each.

I've been told Wilson's are the best
I have a few but haven't used them yet since I'm still waiting on my 1911 to come in

    BTW you're close to 1K Karma "I'm in":innocent0

I use Wilson 47D's, and Tripp Cobra mags.

all excellent as well as McCormick Power mags. Don't have those but they have a good rep.

What 1911's do you have? I have a Remington R1 and bought Chip McCormick Shooting Star Classic mags and for some reason the slide doesn't lock after the last round.

Wilson, Chip, Colt. Mecgars are okay, no great shakes. Kimber Tac-Pro is decent from what I've heard, but I don't like their standard magazines. Anything else is a gamble.

I don't know if it is currently true but Kimber's factory mags were made by Chip Mccormick at one time, i never had any issues with mine when i had it

Not mine. But the Kimbers I have are 10mm magazines :D I've bought WC mags for my RIA 1911, they feed hollow points better than the cheap mag it came with.

me neither. They worked fine as well. They were regular Kimber mags

I should have made a clearer statement...the older Kimber stamped mags were produced by Chip McCormick, i do not know if this is still the case today, it's been a few years since i had mine but i think the follower was the dead giveaway as to the source

This gentleman did the most in depth eval of 1911 mags I have ever seen. Based on my experience he is absolutely correct.

I currently use Checkmate 8-rd Hybrid mags and Colt 7-rd factory mags for all of my 1911s. Also use Checkmate and Colt for the Delta Elites.

    Others I have tried:
    The good:
    Novaks
    Act-Mag
Wolff (BTW these are actually all the exact same, ACT-Mag makes them all the caveat is that you have to run Wolff XP springs in these mags for optimal feeding.)
    Tripp

    The Bad:
Wilson 47D (nylon follower sticks sometimes, lets round loose early)
    Para-Ordinance (Para Mags SUCK!)
Mec-Gar (feeds ok but sides of the mag are thin and bulge when fully loaded so I was constantly having to strip mags from the magwell instead of them dropping free)
