Please forgive me as it's been sometime since I have been highly involved in our sport and I have forgotten some of the specifics. I've always wanted a 20'' barrel and this A2 Upper( https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa...Avantlink&utm_medium=Referral&utm_campaign=el ) fits the bill pretty good to put on my M4 Lower.
My question is this. Am I legally allowed in MD to purchase this Upper because it does not say it's a heavy barrel. My AR was bought before FSA2013 and is not a Heavy Barrel.
    Thanks for your help, guys.

As I understand it, if you owned any lower or rifle before the date in 2013, it can be built as a lightweight or non HBAR.

You could try to look at the old posts on here from around that time. The MSP put out some document to this effect.

I don't think there's any state law specifically regarding the purchase of a barrel/upper in MD.

Your pre-FSA2013 lower can legally accept any 16" or longer non-HBAR barrel.

Maryland certainly has managed to occupy far too much space in the heads of far too many of its more conscientious citizens.

I love 20 in. bbl AR15's - everyone should have a few, but you may want to go up a notch in quality.

Legal issues aside, I've had a couple of the PSA nitride 20 inch uppers and have found them disappointing in the accuracy department.

They print about 2MOA or a bit more and are OK for blasting or short range multi-gun matches but not for serious shooting.

Most other "milspec" type barrels (FN, DSA, S&W, Windham, etc.) will print noticeably better groups.

A Wylde chambered White Oak barrel will shoot much better groups.

    I don’t think that’s an A2 upper though, didn’t the A2 have a fixed carry handle

No one is going to come and check your gun. Build what you want and enjoy.
