Originally, I thougt I was going to reload with Lapua brass, but I see that I can get Remington brass for a 1/3 of the cost. Although it seems to be "out of stock" everywhere I look... Go figure!

So,, my question: Is Lapua brass, at x3 the cost, that much better over Remington brass? What about other manufcaturers? What am I getting with the more expensive brass?

In a post I found from 2010, it was a uniformity and thickness issue. But, from an accuracy perspective, the minute differences didn't seem to warrant the cost. If the differences are minute to the type of shooting I want to do (tactical maybe some F-Class), I'll stick with the cheaper stuff.

    Thoughts?

I reload 7mm-08, which is the slightly bigger, older, better looking brother to your 6.5mm cartridge. I've found a ton of .243 brass at a local range, I just upsize it to 7mm, it's cheaper than 7mm-08 brass and now I have even more brass. I had to get a stronger press because of this, I broke my cheap Lee C-style press doing this.

Below are a few groups shot during testing of my own .260 loads with unprepped (no match oriented work) Remington Brass. The squares are 1".

Did you require and intermediate step to neck up?

You can always try Bass Pro. They carry both Remington and Winchester Brass. I just picked up some Winchester .308. I didn't notice if they had any .260 but that had a pretty good selection.

I shoot alot of .260, Brass pro shot has rem brass some times. They are very hit or miss.
I just checked a few distrubitors and all of them are out of 260 rem brass with the exception of noslar custom brass. THat is good brass but at like $78 bucks a box its pricy.

Try searching on line. I have been trying to buy, beg, scrounge 260 brass local and have had zero luck.

    love my .260

No, I did not. The expander button did most of the work. I full length sized them. I did not have any accuracy issues using the .243 brass. And it's a lot cheaper than .260 or 7mm-08 brass, and you can usually find a bunch of it at outdoor ranges around sight in time, like I did.

I'll try that next time. My order from Crenshaw already shipped. :)

The most accurate brass I've found yet is LC brass necked down, neck turned, and weight sorted. I'm not willing to shell out the bucks for Lapua or Norma brass when (with a little work) I can make as good or better brass.
