So I did the ladder round thing with cast, powder coated, gas checked bullets. Used 4198 and stepped in 1/2 grain increments. I think I reached my best at 2378 and 2403 and both the barrel was over heating and have cool times. Shots one two and three were good and 4 drifted off with the barrel getting too hot. So the drifted off shot on both was from the barrel hot and why I quit that weekend.

All at 100 yards. Using a lead sled but on a plastic table in a farm field. It is also like a hunting shot.

2429 was the last of the first day and I knew the barrel was too hot. 1 and 2 were fine, three drifted right and 4 missed the target.

2450 was the first one today and can't explain it. 1 too high, adjusted and way too low, adjusted and on the mark, fire a core-lokt to just check it. The rest of the group are too wide, even though faster, just not grouping. Thinking of loading 2403 as my top and trying more at 100, 150 and 200.

    What do you think?

What mold are you casting with?
    Wheel weight or another alloy?
What sizing die diameter did you use?

Wheel weight lead water quench, powder coated and quenched.

Also how many primers fail? Had a CCI LRP take a dent like all other and not go off. Tried it twice and waited a minute. Assume I’ll pull it.
