My bad, I think I got a little confused as my understanding of this morphed.
I think Teratos put it best when he described it as “magic” haha.

Much appreciated. I’ll probably just buy one new through an FFL this will make sure I do everything correctly. Just wanted to make sure there weren’t additional MD laws when it came to a 300 BLK pistol. So I guess I’ll keep shopping for one, haha.
As irrational as gun control laws actually are, I suppose it saves me money on more things I can’t have...
Edit to add another question:
But if you buy a lower as other and make it a pistol, or as part of a whole pistol, then later throw a rifle upper on it, is it forever a rifle or can it go back again? I know no one would know, but trying to understand the law and WTH the people who wrote it were thinking.
the term “pistol” is defined by the Act’s implementing regulations, 27
CFR 479.11, as “a weapon originally designed, made, and intended to fire a projectile
(bullet) from one or more barrels when held in one hand, and having (a) a chamber(s) as an
integral part(s) of, or permanently aligned with, the bore(s); and (b) a short stock designed
to be gripped by one hand and at an angle to and extending below the line of the bore(s)”
Try to understand.
Much of this comes from a criminal case, lawsuit, and court rulings involving the T/C encore/contenders, SNIP
I’m sure this has been asked before but the only threads I could find were dated.
Is it possible to build a 300 blackout in 7.5 to 10.5 barrel length? I’d love a honey badger, but don’t have the money. Would like a sugar weasel, but even a PSA upper would be nice. Then a suppressor would be in the plans at some point in the future.
Obviously the first two would be purchased as a pistol, if available to do so in this totalitarian state.
If I have an ar, could I just throw a PSA upper on it? I’d have to take off the stock so it doesn’t become an SBR, but could I put on a sig brace or would I have to leave the buffer tube bare (not preferable).
I definitely don’t want to do anything illegal, which is why I’m asking. But the more I look into this I realize just how ass backwards this state is. They continue passing more gun laws and crime goes up. It’s almost like criminals don’t follow the law...
Been home in quarantine has left me thinking of the possibilities. Love the idea of the BLK with subs
Here is a 300 black out pistol build of mine.
You're into the history of electric motors? As an armature historian who likes understanding the why, thanks for the detailed explanation.
I haven’t spent much time here over the years, but thanks to “quarantine” find myself with a little more time. Either way, I’m starting to appreciate the community you all have created.
Wasn't it Ben Franklin that invented the very first armature? As an armature historian who likes understanding the why, thanks for the detailed explanation....You're into the history of electric motors?

Two armature historians in one day!
When I was a kid, back in the 20th century, my brother built a model car that came with an electric motor option. He had to wind the armature himself! Came with the core and a spool of copper wire and how-to instructions. After that, every kit we built came with a finished motor.
When I was a kid in the 1950's, Linburgh Line model ships had motors that you made from plastic castings and wound the armature with copper wire. I thing they used a C cell battery to turn the motor. They worked great in the bath tub until the little parts wound up in the drain and dad had to clean it out.
I built a few of those, of course in the modern days of the '60, the motors came already assembled.
OP, sorry about the thread drift...

This is Maryland son... take your common sense and shove it.They continue passing more gun laws and crime goes up. It’s almost like criminals don’t follow the law...
I know this has probably been covered in a more recent post but I can’t seem to locate one. I’d like to build a AR-15 .300 Blackout in 16” for deer hunting. From most accounts here it appears this is a legal AR in Maryland. PSA even lists the barrel as heavy, which I understand is one of MSP’s requirements. That said, PSA had a complete AR-15 .300 BO in 16” for sale recently so I ordered it. I received an email stating it was a copycat and they could not ship it to Maryland. I’m confused. The Anderson MFG .300 BO is listed as not banned on the MSP website while the Bushmaster .300 BO is listed as banned. They look like the same setup to me. The PSA is not listed. Is this, or is it not a copycat? I might try simply ordering the upper and see what happens (when it’s back in stock), but I want to be sure it’s legal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
