I'm looking for a budget 7.5 inch complete upper, mainly for fun and plunking. I originally wanted Spikes however it is no longer in production. I found two others I like but can't find much info on quality. Please give me your opinion on red x arms and (saa) surplus ammo and arms. Both have complete uppers under $500. Other suggestions are welcome.

I have tried searching for reviews on both but with the company names it makes the search more challenging. Has anyone dealt with either company?

I'm not familiar with either company. From the ads they look about the same to me. Chrome Moly vs Stainless Steel for the barrels. No name BCG vs Rock River BCG. One has several custom features available so you could pick and choose what you wanted.

Given the choices I would do more research and look for more sources.

SAA uppers and lowers are supplied by Aero-Precision. Other than that I have no opinion on either company. I would vote stainless steel, but in reality that means nothing in itself in the way of accuracy. But hey with a 7.5" barrel you are not going for accuracy anyway.

I understand completely. Far to often I find myself regretting a purchase or sale of a firearm.

Build it! That way you get exactly what you want and you know the parts are quality.
