The spec is more for seating depth than for OAL. I usually find a similar bullet that has printed data and an OAL spec, compare it to the bullet that I am looking to load, and measure the length of both bullets, and correct for the difference in length so the new loads base will be the same depth in the case as the known load, but not over the 1.165 OAL of ball ammo, and check to make sure it chambers, and fits in the mags.

For example, the min OAL for a 124gr gold dot is 1.125, say the bullet itself measures .575". If the other 124gr bullet has a length of .585, and is shaped similarly, it is a safe bet that the min OAL is 1.135. If the mystery bullet's length was .565, then the min OAL would be 1.115.

C.O.L. for a caliber is the same for any bullet. Longer rounds may not chamber properly, shorter may jam in a magazine.

C.O.L. for 9x19 is 1.169"

Different bullets vary by seating depth and powder charge.

I was concerned with to much pressure
by seating to deep. I understend .030"
is a lot in 9mm. I've got some factory 124gr
maybe I'll pull a few & SWAG it
