Our previous socialist mayor here in Westminster, Dominick, banned plastic bags at stores. The paper bags suck. Weaker, tear much easier, fall apart in the rain. Yet grocery stores will give you thicker plastic bags, for a price. Also some food places also have plastic bags for to go orders. So, I guess plastic bags aren't totally banned, just get to charge you for them. Money is money. But the paper bags suck.

Claim "0 bags" anytime you check out. F^ck the council. They go after plastic bags to virtue signal about environmentalism as they green light massive deforestation to plop high-density housing anywhere that red voters live.

Save the environment, beat the system. Order online and have it delivered to your house. I can honestly say that Zero of my plastic bags end up blowing around my neighborhood and I reuse those bags for small trash cans, cat litter and cleaning up after my dogs. The target bags are the best and walmart and home depot bags the worst (they actually start to biodegrade on your way home from the store)

You're in for a treat. Went to Walmart in Severn today, and they have new plastic bags. They say reusable on them, claiming to reuse up to 125 times, and they are washable. These are pretty thick bags.

Home Depot up in Timonium hasn't had bags at self checkout for a few weeks. Last time I was there it asked me after I scanned my last item, how may bags I wanted to buy. I have three handfuls of fittings and small items.. 0 thank you, stuffed it all in my pockets and walked out...

They want to save the environment than stop packing stuff in plastic that you need a chainsaw to open up and the plastic is two times larger than the product.

    maybe, maybe not

    From the article:
“The impact from a carbon footprint is greater for paper bags than it was for plastic bags. They’re heavier and they take more carbon to produce, ship, transport and also throw away,” said Sood.

Folks will switch to delivery from walmat.com or amazon which I would imagine is worse for their "carbon footprint" than bags (delivery vehicles larger and running all day compared to the shopper's car, cardboard box manufacturing and shipping, etc).

Well, except for Annapolis, they're exempt.

Story didn't get into why they are tho.
    WTF?

Probably has to do with Annapolis being an incorporated city, which can affect County authority.

So if WallyWorld starts charging for bags, does that mean we can just put things in our pockets and then gladly hand over our receipt for inspection at the exit... and decline to show what's in our pockets?

WM charges for bags in DE. Crappy paper bags at that.

Giant Food and Dollar Tree are the only food stores I've seen that don't charge for them.

Didn’t we go to plastic cause we were killing to many trees?

Shhh!!! The paper bag lobby pays more these days.

Paper bags are bio-replaceable. They come from trees, which are CO2 absorbers.

CO2 is plant food. Plant more trees, absorb more CO2, if you really believe it's a problem.

"Carbon footprint" is an absurd concept. It's hard to decide whether entire governments have actually been fooled by this nonsense, or if perhaps they're all on the take, ripping off the rest of us.

You want to save the planet? Nuke Davos, when all the puppeteers are in town.

Okay to kill the unborn but no plastic bags or misgendering anyone.
Not too long ago we had to get away from paper sacks because we were killing too many trees. Guess the developers changed everyone’s minds when they got rid of most trees anyway.

That don’t charge a separate fee. I’m pretty sure the 20ish % increase in food wasn’t all Joe’s fault. Decreasing services in stores certainly wasn’t for the customers benefit either.
Now that corporate America has almost completely replaced mom and pop, the bag thing is probably chicken scat for what’s to come.
