I am thinking of getting a different optic for my 22/45 which I use for shooting steel plates. I'm trying to decided between the HS 507CGR and 507KGR. Currently I have a Burris FF on it but it really isn't bright enough for bright days and I pick up green better.

I know the the window size is different on these to sights and one has shake awake and solar. The larger window would seem to be the better selection for what I am using it for. Am I correct? Any other issues I should know about?

    TIA

I use the 507c x2 with the ACSS reticle on my mark iv for steel challenge. Really like how it works. I wouldn’t get a smaller window for this application. I have a friend that uses the 510c on his mark iv for the same purpose. Looks strange with a large optic, but works great for him. Beats me everyday.

I have several 407, 507, 508, 510,... They are all solid choices. The 407 is too small imo for plate shooting. The 507/508 would likely be good. I've just ordered the new matchdot ii for Precision Pistol - I have the original version and I think it's better than nearly everything else as far as dot clarity / size / optic distortion but not a large viewing area though. I use the RMR and Deltapoint for plates at Glock events myself and they are good but a few more $ than Holosun.

I'll take pictures later, but I have a 407c and 407k. Ive got tall sights on the gun with the 407c, but without them the window looks bigger. The c is red and the k is gr. They're both easily daylight bright, but green is much easier to see at lower brightness settings. If size isn't a factor, I'd opt for the c. Getting the solar charging, auto-brightness(I don't use it, but you might want it), and larger window all make the C better. The K is essentially better if you have that footprint(g43xmos) or if you need something to be as small as possible.

Thanks for the pics, they gives some realistic perspective. I did not think about the 407 as it only has a dot reticle. However, I never use the circle dot reticles on my other dot sights so buying the 407 will save me $80. I think I just changed my choice of sights. :party29:

It's tough getting the lighting and angles right for this to represent what I see with my eyes, but this is close. Here's a 407c next to a 407k. It's a 2moa red dot on the c and a 6moa green dot on the k. The one good thing about the 507k compared to the 407k is you can get a 2moa green dot when you turn off the outside ring. If you want a bigger/faster 6moa dot, then it's not an issue. The 407c window would look way bigger, except for the big suppressor height sights on this particular slide.

I swear when my slide comes back from milling,, I'm just gonna take a sharpie and draw 2 vert marks on the 507K glass for rear sights :)

haha It'd probably be surprisingly effective. You could probably sell rear-sight profile black-out stickers to stick on the bottom of the rear glass and make tons of moolah
