Is it legal to lend a handgun to friends or family if they live across state lines?

I live in the People's Republic of MD they are in VA....

They are legally entitled to own said gun, but are borrowing it for purposes of target shooting.

Yes, it is legal to loan firearms across state lines.

This same question has been asked a lot lately, I'm surprised you haven't seen it earlier

Do you have any official documentation on that?

Q: To whom may an unlicensed person transfer firearms under the GCA?

A person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of his State, if he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. A person may loan or rent a firearm to a resident of any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes, if he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. A person may sell or transfer a firearm to a licensee in any State. However, a firearm other than a curio or relic may not be transferred interstate to a licensed collector.

Learn something new everyday. i actually thought you could only lend a long rifle. One of the range officers at targetmaster offered to do some work on a gun, but we both thought you needed an ffl since he is a PA res and I am a DE res
