I have read numerous useful posts on AR15 regardng the Aimpoint knock-offs. Based on what I have read and the pictures posted, this Aimpoint M4s I am looking at looks legite, but I am not 100% sure - the knock-offs keep getting better and better.

What say some of the experts - real or a very good fake?

Packaging is the same as the Aimpoint Pro I purchased a couple of weeks back.

Serial and "Made in Sweden" on there implies it's legit.

You could probably call them and ask to check the serial (and/or register it).

    Thanks

I have requested a few more pictures of the battery cap/compartment since many fakes are missing the gasket. I also asked for pics of the top cap off. I will feel a lot better about it when I see those pics.

Many of the Aimpoint fakes have the "Made in Sweden" and a serial number. The earlier Chinese knock-offs did not get the "Aimpoint" font or dust covers right though, but now they have wised-up, so many of the fakes even have the same font now too.

A quick easy test would be to turn it on the brightest setting and let it sit. If the battery dies in a week or two then it's not real.

Is that instruction book laminated? Also, the label on the top of the box. Is that black and white or colored?

It appears to be b&w. Should it be color?

Now that I look at it, it almost looks like the top of the label of cut-off?

Right now it's on my DD 300BLK... I plan on using it Hog Hunting later this fall, I'll let you know how it does.

Up to now it's only seen a bunch of range time.

As far as the battery goes... Pmbspyer is right on the money. I'm amazed at how much juice they can get from an "AA" battery. I have left the thing on (by accident) in the safe for up to a month at a time and she still works. The battery I have is still the original that came with it... Still running strong.

I don't know if the boxes between the two products should be different but I took a picture of the box my Aimpoint PRO came in a long with the shorter version of the directions which should be laminated. The second picture is on the underside of the lid.

Looking at the lable on the box, it almost looks like it is glued to the box as opposed to painted on.

A quick Google image search seems to confirm the box at least looks legit.
