Looking at a Smith & Wesson MP15 Sport for a first AK-15 type rifle. They make it with fixed stock or collapsible stock, and with 30 rd or 10 round mags. Which am I restricted to buying in MD. Don't want to order wrong one. Anyone have one? Wondering how they are liked. Thanks

That appears to be an HBAR, and should be sold/transferred as not regulated (no waiting period). You can't buy 30 round mags in-state. Possession is legal, but you have to get them from out of state.

    Thanks. What is HBAR??

Heavy Barrel AR. MD law is stupid. The target shooters got the heavy barreled ARs exempt from the regulated gun list. I guess they aren't as dangerous if used to harm people??

The fixed stock version is meant for states like NY or NJ where it is illegal to own a new rifle with a collapsible stock. Yes, a rifle made before 1994 is somehow safer than new ones, so if you have an AR made before 1994, you can has a collapsible stock.

NY and NJ also have rules about mags, unless they were made before 1994.

Engage armaments will have them in on Tuesday. In fact, picking one up as well.

It is a basic M4 style AR carbine. Heavy 16" barrel with 5R rifling. No dust cover or forward assist.

Thats awesome! I didn't know there was an upper made that took ak mags.

Lowers take the magazines. You have to slighly mod the upper to have it work with the lower.

Unless you buy the MGI lower they made for their 'multiple magazine well' lowers.

I've seen them at Engage before. They're not bad if you can go without a dust-cover and forward assist.
