LaPierre's going ride this grift all the way to retirement.
Not a defense or justification for his actions, but just a possible explanation for his tenure: He's been willing to face the cameras and the politicians immediately after some of the ugliest events of our time, something that not everyone will do.

So he can face the cameras without a hint of conscience and steal our money for clothes and trips? There’s a label for those folks…

    Yes, there is: RICH.

He should either run for Congress or manage a Silicon Valley tech company. He has the psyche for it.

Or psychopath, which makes him very well suited to Congress in particular.

*****Every time I read something like this, I always think the Feds/ATF must be looking for certain keywords before focusing in on a conversation. Outside of porn, mentioning the 3rd hole probably gets some Feds attention. No doubt there are other words or phrases as well "Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range", the AS-007 depleted urine rounds with urethran tracking, etc.. It's all an algorithm or Al Gore Rhythm. Or somethin'

Somehow I doubt that the NRA brass gives a damn about what the membership thinks of WLP. He's in like Flynn, and is not going to be dislodged by any internal process.

It was mentioned above that the NRA might be saved by NY's action against NRA/WLP. The irony is intense in that possibility, but it might be the only way to get rid of him.

The question then becomes, who will replace him? Cronyism on the ridiculous 76-member BoD is not going away. So many of our institutions are rotting away from the inside; success has undermined them. More irony.
