A lot of people who use GMRS are also HAM operators. They bring their HAM habits with them when they use GMRS.
I had my Morse code Novice class license for 10 years and I was a Navy radioman/ET for 20 years. I know my Q & Z sigs, but I don't recall speaking in just numbers except for "73's." 73's means "farewell" or basically a pleasant goodbye, to you.

Each morning, I hear 2 guys check in with each other. The first guy always says "4-2, 4-7-1. Good morning ----." When they sign off, they always say "4-2." These aren't callsigns.
What the hell is this? I tried Google and came up empty.

Hm. I'm starting to think that this is just some code between these guys and not HAM slang or codes.
    Thanks for the link.
