Ammo question

Considering buying a Ruger LCP 380 ACP. My question, what is the difference between .380 and .380 ACP? What does ACP mean?

It's the same thing.

ACP is Automatic Colt Pistol. Many times, the ACP part is omitted.

Agree 380 is a 380.

Just need to be careful with some calibers: such as 45.

45ACP same as 45 auto, where as 45 LC (long colt) is larger and very different.

When I clearly listed 45LC(long colt) ammo trade in classifieds the first five to respond thought 45auto/acp.

.380 also = 9x17 , 9mm Short , 9mm Corto , 9mm Kurtz , etc .

.380 is one of the few cartridges where .380 = .380 = .380

Most need some other identifier to make sure you are getting the right cartridge.

You say you're considering to buy the LCP. It's a great little pistol. You will love it. The 2013 model has corrected the complaints about the sights. They are a little taller now. I am using the Hornady Critical Defense rounds in mine. Supposed to be just about the best you can buy for it.

DocGKR the guru recommends that you don't use JHP in .380's many functional reliability issues. Until his posting about JHP in .380's I used JHP, live and learn.
