Picked this up from a fellow board member, sort of an interesting variant, a 1942 Izhevsk ex-PEM sniper, note the mounting holes are much closer together than the PU sniper. An interesting piece because 1942 was the last year of PEM snipers and the first year of Izhevsk sniper production. So leave it alone or resniper it, that is the question. The Soviets got rid of all of their PEMs after WW2, so there are none to be had, if you want one you have to build it yourself, and even the repro mount and scopes are $400-$500. This is also why when you watch "Enemy at the Gates" all the snipers are PU, even though every original photo from Stalingrad shows only PEM snipers. Guess I will range test it and then decide. This originally came from Keepshooting, and has the better smaller import marks.

    very cool.

it would certainly be nice if there were some PEM's out there in any numbers.

still, even making a repro PEM would be pretty cool.

The Finns captured a few, removed the mounts and optics and they hit the market years ago, I also have seen original mounts and scopes, but nothing below $1700.
