Does anyone know if any common chain stores stocks or carries Loc Tite 222 - purple low strength ?

I need to mount a scope (Rings & Base) etc, and need some this week. I checked the local Auto Parts store (NAPA), and they dont carry it. Wasnt sure if Wally Worlds, or Lowe's carry it. Maybe some of you have run into it at certain chain stores.

Like a dumb ass I forgot to add it to my order when I ordered the scope , and base/rings set .... :banghead:

Blue is for larger fasteners (larger then most scope mount screws) - its a bit strong for tiny base mount screws, especially if you have to pull them back off. With 222 ,You can remove the fasteners without heat, or cranking on the small screwheads.

McMaster Carr has it. Everytime I buy from them the big brown truck shows up the next day with the order.

Yeah , the shipping would probably cost me more then the tube of Loctite, lol. I forgot to put it in my Midway order - they carry it.

I used to buy it in the outdoor/gun section at Kmarts years ago. But we dont have those in my area (probably a good thing).

I'll probably have to check a few places in the Pittsburgh burbs this week.

I would check an auto parts store. Advance Auto carries the Permatex brand. Purple is low strength for theirs also. Part #24024.

I checked my Local NAPA - Permatex, and Loctite are no longer the same company, so prob why no purple there.

I do have lots of Loctite blue, and some red (and a monster piping bag sized tube of Loctite orange from working on 911 motors)

Why purple? Purple is for for fasteners under 1/4" that require occasional adjustment and removalble with hand tools for easy disassembly. Is that what you want for a scope mount? Use blue. Blue is for general-purpose applications. Removable with hand tools for easy disassembly. Just stay the heck away from the green and brown.
