100%. I shouldn't even stress myself. Based on the current statistics, logic dictates I shouldn't even bother looking for my NICS until 8/19, let alone approval. But the excitement breeds impatience......

Wouldn't you get the 'extra' year if you are approve 9/1, or after?

No you don't want to get approved until after the end of the month. My understanding is the first permit is good for at least 2 years and expires at the end of your birthday month. So if you get it this month you will have to renew 8/2024 but if it is next month you will renew 8/2025.

for anyone interested in setting up an email filter or alert- the email will be from "msp.handgunpermits@maryland.gov" with a title of "MD HGP - Your Application Has Been Given a Final Disposition"

This is correct, my birthday is in July since I was approved today, my expiration date is 7/31/2025

Yep, I think my theory is right. Your acceptance is two days before me, but your NICS is four days after mine. If it was based more on the NICS date, then I would have probably gotten mine by now.

17th was a Sunday, so I'm not sure if anyone got accepted or not.
