Interesting lots of references aren't being contacted. Is that the new "enhanced background check" being touted.

Next thing you know someone who passed the BG but no one checked references etc....will do something stupid and be the poster person for why even background checks don't work... let's ban everything.

Sort of off topic I know..

I was under the impression that MSP wasn't contacting any references at all post-Bruen. Is there anyone who has applied since then who actually has had any references contacted?

They can't. Supreme court ruled that the permit process cannot be subjective. References and interviews are subjective. If you apply for a permit, they have to give you one as long as you are not a prohibited person.

So interesting to me. I submitted 3 days before, but was accepted three days after. Still no approval on my end…. :/

Not exactly. You don’t get to see the results of the FBI fingerprint record if one exists. This would encompass criminal records outside the state of MD

Only MSP sees that.

Yep. And if a permit is ever denied because of something a reference says, chances are it’s a 1983 lawsuit against the individual who signed off on denying the permit.

CJIS is run by DPSCS in Maryland. That’s who sends applicants that letter.

The CJIS run by the FBI has exactly the same name and acronym, and they send nothing to the applicant.

Confusing, I know.
