Have any of the recent applicants on this thread received a call about references being contacted or had them contacted? This was reported recently again in a different thread (as well as by someone on the previous page), just wanted to see if this is a new development in the process as they haven't been contacting references for the last year or so. Curious to see if this is actually a new wrinkle or a one off.

21 days since HGP Application Accepted

It’s been 21’days since my HGP app was accepted. What is the normal time before being assigned to an investigator?

Interviewed by phone 2 hours later. Wife and all references contacted. Was told in class that they were interviewing 10-15 % of applicants now.

I think the whole reference thing is stupid. 1, you have to have 2+ references. If you don’t you cannot carry a handgun???? 2. Now people know you have a permit to carry a gun. 3. It’s not like my/your friends are going to say, anything bad about me/you.

It’s almost like MD is data mining on gun owners and their friends and family

Why involve more people than the licensee and the licenser.

I’m sure this has been asked before but I cannot find it, when doing my HQL after getting my CCw license, which one do I chose , Hql permit exempt, training exempt or standard? Thanks so much
