I'm trying to decide on an upper for my first ar-15. I have a couple pre-FSA2013 lowers, so barrel profile isn't an issue. Trying to put together a "standard" rifle, 16" barrel mid-length gas. Probably see most action on the 100yd range. My problem is I can't decide between a stainless steel barrel or a chrome lined barrel. Does the accuracy of stainless outweigh the durability of chrome, or will I get more value from chrome lined vs replacing barrels after x number of rounds?

If the gun will be a truck gun, or may be stored for long periods of time I suggest chrome lined.

a GOOD stainless barrel can usually shoot better groups than a chrome lined barrel, BUT stainless wears faster and it can still rust.

A good chrome lined barrel can still shoot pretty decent as well, I was constantly reminded of that by even a 16" 1:9 Stag barrel with 69gr rounds.
