Is the AR 15 pistol BCG interchangeable with the rifle (16")? I understand head space may or may not be an issue. But I seem to have a couple of BCGs laying around I was going to use one in my new pistol.

I've googled and found a lot info, but it all seems to contradict itself.

    Thoughts?

The BOLT is the part that sets headspace in an AR. You should not swap bolts with different barrels (barrel extensions) without checking headspace.

The BCG is the same between a pistol and rifle AR.

True, but if things are proper, it should be fine between them. If it isn't, there is an issue with how the barrel is cut or the bolt itself.

Well Gun Smoke Enterprises does offer a system with a unique bcg , but at the most charitable, it is for extremely niche applications, with major tradeoffs.

For 99.999% of AR pistols, the BCG's are the same as for rifles. The caveats about swaping apply equally about swaping bolts between different guns of any bbl length.

You can use your rifle bcg in your pistol just make sure your head space is good to go first with a "go gauge" / "no go gauge".

You may consider a different buffer weight once your head space is confirmed to be ok.
If you have any cycling issues it will most likely be your buffer weight not your bcg.
I use a spikes T2 buffer in my 7.5 pistol, works great.
