To the AR pistol folks, I have an AR pistol in 300 Blackout with an 8.5 barrel. It has an adjustable gas block (SA) that was adjusted as instructed. Question is, if the first shot ejects at 3 o'clock and the subsequent shots are at 5 o'clock is it undergassed or good to go? No jams or feeding issues. Using 147 grain supersonic ammo.

That is the same set up I am running. As long as it is running, go with it. You may have to open the port a little as it gets some carbon build up but I would let it ride right now. What are you using for buffer and spring?

    Is this a new weapon?

Do you have it adjusted in the first stage or second? Are you going for pure restriction or adding some bleed-off as you go?

The ejection pattern sounds fine(though people read too much into that at times).

I prefer SLR blocks and I adjust accordingly; I start with the gas turned down almost closed. I shoot the gun adjusting open by one click at a time until I get a consistent bolt lock open/empty chamber. At that point, I open it two more clicks. Done.

ETA: I meant to say, I carry out these adjustments with the gun suppressed. Though I rarely shoot un-suppressed, all my guns run on this setting both suppressed and un-suppressed.

I too like Slr adjustable gas blocks and just like the previous poster, close up and open until It reliably locks the bcg back. Then 1-2 clicks past that…

Thanks Gents. It is a newly built pistol. The gas block is a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block. I'll run some additional rounds and see if it needs any adjustments. Function is good, and recoil is minimal.

Hot take, but cycling supers isn't the hard part for most 300AAC guns, it's cycling subs, especially without a can. Recommend finding some and using those for your gas system adjustment. TBH, you can make a pretty good argument that you are often better off with maximum gas on most of those guns...

Eventually. Gotta save up for the can, stamps (can and SBR), maybe a FRT-15 if they're still available.

That depends. A lot of people run a lighter(est) spring in 300 Blk and depending on gas port size, you can really beat the hell out of the gun.
