Ordered a 20" govt profile barrel sub assembly from Windham Weaponry. They are a great value! $215 to my door and it includes handguard caps and mounting hardware.

I guess the question is: has anyone had issues with Windham barrels?

Also, I'm thinking about jumping into tools to build/service my own guns. I'm pretty set on a Hammerhead rifle tool. Any suggestions on a vise block and barrel nut wrench? I'm not sure about a free float wrench as I don't plan on free float handguards any time soon. Am I going to need a torque screwdriver? How important are the torque specs on AR's?

Windham barrels are great, unless you by chamce get one that just slipped past QC.

I have a thread in the sotar section about build tools.

Best bang for the buck for assembling uppers:

    BEV Block
    Wheeler Upper Receiver Lapping Tool
Tapco Armorers Wrench (Installs Barrels, Muzzle Devices, and Stocks)
Harbor Freight FT/# Torque Wrench (Yes torque is important)
MS33 Grease for Barrel Nut Assembly (small amounts can be bought on ebay)
