Hello,
I've actually been a forum member for a few years now, but not very active. I've only really started getting into shooting in the last 3 or 4 years... it's not something I did growing up.
I started by buying a Remington 700 Varmint in .308. I'm hoping to eventually get into hunting, though it seems a difficult thing to learn if you didn't learn from a parent or something.
I joined the gun club at work and we shoot at AGC/Marriottsville.
Last year I bought a Benelli Nova, which I've used primarily for trap shooting with my club, but did have the opportunity to use for a Pheasant and Quail hunt earlier this year. Been trap shooting almost monthly.
My latest acquisition is a Taurus PT1911 chambered in the traditional .45 ACP. I was originally thinking of getting something in .40 as an in-between for 9mm and .45... More boom, less buck... however the as I started deciding on the style of gun I wanted, the price started getting out of hand. Decided with the popularity of the 1911, I'd have a much larger aftermarket open to me on a PT1911 than something like a PT840 or similar in that price range.
Only picked up the 1911 on Tuesday this week and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Feels great in my hand though and I've given it a good cleaning and have been practicing dry firing and just working the slide. I'm really excited to get it to the range.
