The caption reads “CARJACKING BACKFIRES ON SUSPECTS AFTER THEY GET SHOT AT BY THE VICTIM: Sunoco, 6300 block of New Hampshire Ave in Takoma Park- 2 men tried to take the victim's car with handguns with extended clips, however the victim (with a handgun permit) fired back, leaving bullet holes & blood at the suspect's stolen car. (which was ditched after they fled on foot) A gun was located inside of a Popeyes bag on scene.”

My guess would be any spin would revolve around a narrative that the victim should not have tried to defend property. Then conveniently leave out the little detail of firearms used by the perps. Just my opinion.
