Following deployment of the HQL system on September 30, 2013, the MSP began developing a web accessible Licensing Portal where citizens will submit, and Maryland’s firearms dealers will be able to access, an electronic 77R application (the 77Re) to purchase a regulated firearm. The goals of the Licensing Portal project are to:
    (1) deploy a web ‘dashboard’ that provides citizens the ability to submit and track multiple application types,
    (2) give firearms dealers the ability to access and submit electronically, to the MSP, 77Re applications on behalf of their customers, and (3) provide the MSP Licensing Division the ability to receive, process and report electronically on multiple application types, via a single, paperless system." from MSP

System looks to rollout this summer. More info:

Seems like a good argument to get rid of the 7 day wait doesn't it?

It was there to allow the forms to get mailed, received, checks done, and mailed back.

Seems like if it's all automated it should be fairly instant. Or at least if it's done in 3 days and it's returned "Not Disapproved" the FFL should be able to release the firearm instead of waiting for the 8th day of a 7 day wait.

Sure would beat the crap out of waiting on the Post Office for parts of it....:mad54:

I sent, via Certified Mail, the signed and completed MSP copies of my latest transfer via 77R, last Wedenesday...it's been in Pikesville since FRIDAY, and still hasn't made it to MSP Licensing Div... :sad20:

How would it go over if the Maryland General Assembly created a web site which was the only way someone could comment on pending legislation? (Freedom of Speech?) The only way Maryland State Police accept HQL applications is from a computer using the Internet Explorer operating system and the only way to pay the fee is by credit card. (The Right to Keep and Bear Arms?) Funny because my dollar bill says "This note is legal tender for all debts public and private".

.....a web accessible Licensing Portal where citizens will submit....

The Portal will also support and require electronic payment for the 77Re.....
