Man injured in fall from deer stand

Davidsonville - A 70-year-old man was seriously injured yesterday when he fell 15 feet from a deer stand, county fire officials said.

The man, of 1012 Howard Grove Court, was taken by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Battalion Chief Michael Cox described his injuries as serious, but not life-threatening.

Medics responded to the home about 10:30 a.m. yesterday and found the man about 100 yards behind the house in a densely wooded ravine.

"It was unclear what the gentleman was doing. There were no weapons near him in the woods," Chief Cox said. (NOTE)

It's currently not legal to hunt white-tail deer in Anne Arundel County. The bow-and-arrow season begins Saturday.
