Well I hope that with this bill the hunters now realize that this effort also effects hunters (didn't MOM say that he was supportive of hunters?). Time for Bass Pro and other outdoorsman shops to put their weight behind things!

The next rally should be a "Shutdown the Town" rally, with hunters, industry, and patriots all protesting this nonsense. Pack 10-15000 people into Annapolis and lets seem them try to say hundreds of 2A supporters protested again.

If passed, when all said and done the the dealer will leave, the shops will close and you will have to become a criminal to get a weapon.
Is everyone this blind? What is the root cause for all this legislation, don't tell it is to stop another mass shooting. I need to keep my job, so another trip to Annapolis is out for now. I feel that they want to disarm as many as possible, I am flashing back to 1939 when another Nazi leader did this.

I read it to be similar to the casino bills where the casino money (allegedly) goes towards efforts like gamblers anonymous.

Using the liberal logic, if they just banned the slot machines, people wouldn't use them. Therefore there would be no need to tax gambling to assist those addicted to gambling.

Anyone know what you need to do ,legal wise , to sell ammo ? I can get it but unsure about resale .

Open a business in Maryland http://www.dat.state.md.us/sdatweb/checklist.html

Pay your taxes (normal business taxes - excise (11%) is payed by the manufacture).

FYI - ATF does not deal with the excise on ammo - it is the TTB ( www.ttb.gov )

No funny storage requirements - so you can sell it out of your garage or car if you wish.

Where are you able to get ammo - or is it falling off a truck somewhere? I am sure there would be a huge response for a group buy.

    (c) Rates of tax. Tax is imposed on the sale of the articles specified in section 4181 of the Code at the rates indicated below.
    Percent
    (1) Pistols 10%
    (2) Revolvers 10%
    (3) Firearms (other than pistols and revolvers) 11%
    (4) Shells and cartridges 11%

    (d) Computation of tax. The tax is computed by applying to the price for which the article is sold the applicable rate. For definition of the term “price” see section 4216 of the Code and the regulations contained in subpart J of this part.

Here is an email I got today, and Im sure alot on here have recieved. If not use the cut and paste below as needed:

Dear Defenders of the Second Amendment:

Based on our latest information none of the gun bills have been voted in committee yet. However we do expect action on the gun bills very shortly and will keep you updated regarding any action we need on your part. There are currently several action items below.

    Action items:

HB 1277 – 50% tax on Ammunition was heard in Ways and Means this week-

    1) call the sponsor of the bill, Delegate Jon Cardin 410-841-3833 and strongly urge him to withdraw the bill. 2) Call the Chairman of Ways and Means Delegate Sheila E. Hixson -410-841-3469 to voice your opposition and urge her to not allow the bill to pass committee.
    HB 294

    1) Call the Vice Chair of Judiciary Delegate Kathleen Dumais 301-858-3052 and voice your opposition to HB 294 2) Print the attached UPDATED pamphlet researched and created by MSI ( Maryland Shall Issue) and pass them out to others who need to understand the features of this bill. 3) Encourage everyone you know to contact their legislative representatives to express their opposition and get a commitment to vote against the gun ban. Need to help someone find their representative? MDELECT.net

When information comes available and we can VERIFY it, we will send an update. As always, if you should have a question, please feel free to call me at 410-841-3047 or send me an email – “ATTN Louisa” in the subject line would be helpful, as we are continuing to get quite a lot of gun related emails daily.

Thanks for all you do for this effort.

    Best Regards,
    Louisa Baucom

Isn't this "your friend" Ben's proposal? The tax goes to nothing firearm related but to help disabled children of some sort?

Maybe it's just one of those little sleeper bills. There is still no report out.

This is one of those bills that just makes you say "how dare they" doesn't it?

On the plus side, if "crossover" means anything at all, this bill didn't make the date.

I do think we need to sleep with one eye open until next Monday though, when they want something thru, they can make it happen fast!

Please let us know where you successfully found ammo online; I keep coming up empty.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

    gunbot.com

check many, many times a day! I've seen .223 listed and sold out in under 30 minutes. Less for some primers.

This site runs a spider that checks stock and price for ammo, mags, etc often during the day.

Maryland legislators never seem to get that when they raise taxes like this, the state losses money.

Actually that is a common misconception about a State like MD. Those "revenue" shortfalls are simply made up for by further taxing the poor fools that actually pay taxes in MD. The state never loses out on money, NEVER. This is why economic arguments with those in Annapolis are a foolish waste of time (in my opinion of course).
