So on my Bushmaster xm-15 I have been trying to get the castle nut off to put an ASAP on, and its near impossible. I don't think there is locktight on it, but i have no idea, has anyone else experienced this? if so how have you been successful in getting it off? I have been using a TAPCO 3 prong and it will not budge at all, even started tapping the wrench with a hammer for leverage, but still nothing. I am afraid I am going to start to either dent the threads, or tear up the nut at this point.

    suggestions/assistance/fear?

I'm not familiar with the wrench you are using, but when you mention possibly damaging the threads it makes me think it's the wrong wrench for the job as my wrench never comes close to touching the threads.
