I received the email from MSI and thought, "Sweet an update...blah blah blah...CA4 grants stay...blah blaaaAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"

After thinking about it some and reading this thread. Gura seemed to be making some broader moves in his filings that made me wonder if he wasn't really hoping for this to get punted as far up the chain as possible. He framed his last filing with the intent to make it all about the freedom to carry outside the home. So questions like this:

I wonder how Gura and his staff really feel?
The battle has just begun for Gansler.

I think he could potentially be happy. Maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, I feel like the CA4 panel didn't want to make waves (a form of cowardice) so they just punted it down the line. I'd like it to be over quickly in our favor, but if it goes to the SC and wins, it will be good for EVERYBODY in the US. A lot of ifs there, but Gura has done wonders in the past.

My first reaction was a few choice words and the word "fascists!" in there somewhere. But I was reminded by some of you on here that this is a bump in the road, not the end of the road.

I thank all of you who have put work, time, and money, into this cause. Let's dust our boots off, lift our heads up, and take the next step...or else move to PA! ;-)

Heller and McDonald lost a lot more than this, and we're all happy with those outcomes. This case started with a 'win', unlike the others. Heller was also held pending review.

The panel punted. It was always a possibility. I am disappointed, but this does not speak to the merits of the case. This is literally a court saying they don't want to rock the boat.

The difference is...we had all been lulled to sleep by a coward that we didn't believe was a pragmatic grand arbitrator of the law.

And another thing, for those of us who had our stuff in PRE - first stay, why should we be screwed out of our money when we applied at a time when we were well in in our rights and before any stays? Everyone else got their checks back. And I can understand this go round they stated ahead of time they will not do the same and flat out deny apps, but to screw those who got their stuff in BEFORE a stay and return checks to those AFTER the first stay, that just pisses me off. I'm not blaming anyone on here of course, but that grinds my f*cking gears.

I got my app in on March 9th. My check was cashed and I was F2F interviewed. I believe I was one of the 365. Even if I wasn't my check was cashed and my application received while G&S was ruled unconstitutional. If those like me are denied WE should seek legal action.

This BITES!! I am going to try and ease the pain a little by having a meal at Chick-Fil-A this evening, in DELAWARE, where I am allowed to exercise my 2A right!

Md may or may not have gotten feedbck from a sympathetic Obama apointee on how the panel would be inclined to rule., but it is inconcievable that MSP brass didn't know that the motion was coming and aprox when it would be filed.

It's kind of like the Whitita Board of Education offering the NAACP to oppertunity to give advice on the seating plan of the segregated school bus. As long as they didn't hassle them about the segregted School it was heading to.

I understand this being a BFD but I thought there were legal procedures involved in granting this motion, which clearly were not followed. I know every job I have had I had to follow procedures or else so.....

I don't want to re-state what has already been said but I agree with those that say while this is disappointing, I believe the court decided to leave the current process in place and let the merits panel decide the case. We can take comfort in the expediency of the orals but also the well thought out ruling of the district court.

If that's the case...almost makes me wish I had been a part of the initial wave. If they are "gutsy call" enough to deny yall, you do seek legal action. I'll even donate in a moneybomb to SAF and MSI again to help fund your cause! :D

I have to admit to being disappointed, and surprised. I believe that I was a member of club 365. However, in the long term of things, this may be best. It had crossed my mind as to what would happen if I received a permit Aug 8th, but a stay to be granted soon after. I would assume that it would have been a short-lived celebration.

As esqappellate has said several times now, this was probably just done to keep the status quo, until the final outcome. This should show everyone how big this case really is. I for one, am glad that the court didn't take time to read everything, then grant a stay. It may have shown their hand on their feelings on the issue, and predicted the outcome, one which we may have liked even less than the stay.

I say be patient, and let the machine of SAF and MSI keep working. They've gotten us this far, and it's been a good ride so far.

I am disappointed greatly. This was simply a punt. Esq and others all said upfront that the merits went our way, but that the court could simply punt. There is no way they went through hundreds of pages of docs in 24 hours. They just tossed it for the next panel, at least speeding things up along the way.

For those of you with outstanding permits...just hold a little bit. I should have some more info in a day or so. We are asking for official written determination from the MSP Superintendent on what they are going to do, and we are prepared to act legislatively next week to hold those in abeyance if that is what it takes. I say that after having worked details with Annapolis in the last few hours.

It's not idle chat. We will piss in Mike Miller's Special Session Punch Bowl if that is what it takes.

We may be on hold, but we won't be stopped.
Let's tell Mike Miller we will support and vote for table games and the National Harbor Casino if he supports 2A CCW for those without G&S.
I support this anyway, but don't tell Miller. He needs to work for my vote and will withhold it.

Agreed - I have no issues with gambling and actually hope Maryland passes table games (although I prefer to spend my money in other states). Sounds like a good opportunity to cut a deal!

Even the number *365* is a distraction and attempt to marginalize us.

The usually well informed Del Smiegal has pointed out that there are at least 1,000 more applications submitted pre-Stay that still haven't been "processed" .

There are huge numbers of the greater population that would jump to Actually Receive a Permit. I've had suprisingly good results at getting people to apply as long as there is some hope of actual succuess. As our hope get further dashed , more of the public will be waiting to see a real Permit in the hands of an actual person before wasting their $ and time and efforts.

well this just made my relocation to NC a bit easier!

I knew they would give them a stay no matter what, Gansler could have wiped his ass with a piece of paper and handed it in and gotten a stay.

Too bad Gura couldn't immediately appeal the stay decision to SCOTUS to make the 4th do their job.
