yes, but we should also be free to transport one's self from one place to the another without a high chance of getting killed by an idiot. It all comes down to should we be free to choose stupid cars or not.

So you think electric cars accelerate or are not as fast as fossil fueled cars and travel on special safe roads.Don't get me wrong- I used to race on the dirt tracks back in my misspent youth. I love racing. BUT the highways are set up for horse & buggy. Think about it- on a 2 way road, you pass opposing traffic at high speed maybe 3 feet apart? That's just plain stupid. (also off topic)
correct. you will own nothing and be happy with thatWhen the people realize that the goal of EV mandates is the elimination of 80-90% of all privately owned vehicles, the masses will force the 100% repeal of all EV mandates.
This is entirely about controlling the masses. It has nothing to do the imaginary climate crisis.
We already burn fossil fuels MUCH more efficiently than we did just 30 years ago, horse power is way up, much more than needed. The real problem is we all love automotive power- going fast! Our houses are already mostly electric, hard wired to 'the grid'. Vehicles can't be, of course, so portable power storage is needed. This will not win me any friends, but how much do we really need? How fancy, and how heavy of the horseless carraige do we need to go out there and play chicken with other owners of the same? I can think of 6 fatal crashes in the last 2 weeks locally, one of them a 102 year old lady!
Not if they ban residents from registering cars bought out of state; I bet it's part of the plan. At first people would try leasing or renting with out of state PO boxes, but then DE would prohibit that too. And, as far as the ban on gas powered cars, that will not have much of effect because it's easy to buy a car from out of state. What are they going to do- stop gas stations from selling gas (and diesel)?

Ok, here's what I'm driving at: Cars of the future- there won't be any to speak of.
Once autonomous vehicles take over, it won't matter how they are powered (probably electric but who knows), and 'people' wont have to (or want to) own one. Think about that!
If our so-called 'leaders' had a brain at all, they would be working towards this end, instead of this petty banning of gasoline vehicles.
How much do we really need? That sounds slightly totalitarian. Do you really want the government deciding instead of having a free market where you can use as much as you want as long as you can afford it?
What if they say you can only drive 50 miles a day? Only heat your house or have you lights in for 6 hours a day? Only have 1 TV instead of 2?
I don’t think the government should be involved at all, they fvck everything up and make everything more expensive.

Agreed and offshore wind is 3x the cost of land based.Regarding offshore wind, I am not for that! Leave the ocean alone I say. It takes fossil fuels to manufacture and install the wind turbines, so what do you accomplish? and the maintenance? not diesel powered? Birds mammals and fish? it's a fools game in my book. Oh, and the turbines are not built in the USA!
you misunderstand me- I'm saying we Americans like to take a 10 lb. hammer to a brass tack because it feels good, and we have the freedom to do so. We like to drive a 700 hp hemi on a 50 mph road because we can. We hate it when big government threatens to take our toys away, as I do. But, again, 'Government' should be looking to the future, not lord over us while pretending to be 'public servants'. Who do they work for?? Why don't they listen??Or what if they said something like "you don't need a 100 rounds to kill a deer"

speaking of fish ,bring them on ! some great habitat for fish .Regarding offshore wind, I am not for that! Leave the ocean alone I say. people are too stupid to realize that , they are of theWell, I meant in the short term. They wouldn't dare cut off the diesel fuel from the truckers unless they outlaw the trucks. Oops! that's what they are trying to do in Calforny! So, Delaware won't be far behind. But, DE. is such small peanuts in comparison to Californy that I don't see that happening. Our Gov (and his a$$ kissing disciples) have the napoleon complex but, when enough people get fed up we shall vote all of them out of office. The pain level just isn't high enough yet.
I am dubious of that- anything the Gov tells you is an upside has twice as many downsides. How many gallons of diesel does it take to install that bird chopper?speaking of fish ,bring them on ! some great habitat for fish .
from what i've heard , this is true , the distance from shore is a problem , i heard 1 million dollars a mile for transmission cables , but god forbid someone laying on the beach could see them .Agreed and offshore wind is 3x the cost of land based.
There will never be autonomous vehicles. They might be sold as such. But in fact they will be gov't controlled. Controlled by a central gov't computer. The beauty of that is that dissenters can be killed if crashes caused by a "computer glitch."Ok, here's what I'm driving at: Cars of the future- there won't be any to speak of.
