i know this is a generalization, but I've noticed that the behavior of children has steadily declined over the last few decades. I guess the whole, "never lay a finger on your child" is contributing to a lot of spoiled brats. I know a good smack on the backside did wonders for my attitude when I was growing up. just my $.02

I was brought up to address adults as Sir or Ma'am. These days kids call adults by their first name so the barrier of adult vs child doesn't exist. I know I sound like a grumpy old man but there's something to be said about the basic notion of addressing adults with respect. I'm already teaching my 2 year old to say thank you sir or thank you ma'am.
