Went to Wegman's instead of Whole Foods for no special reason and glad I did because I would have left the Whole Foods parking lot just as this was kicking off.

Instead I was driving home up Wisconsin Ave just as all the fire trucks were blocking everything off.

This was originally reported as a small fire or smoke in the Tenley Metro because someone pulled the fire alarm.

I think Brooke needed to have her walk a little but further up CT Ave. and a little bit later in the day.

Brandywine is a pretty sleepy street -- especially at 1:40 am.

That there is my route homeward after picking up deli supplies at Calvert Woodley.

I'm not allowed to carry in DC. Dang.

    Do you want to?

    Of course.

However, DC would prefer I didn't. That's why they disallowed my 16 hrs of MD training,, and arranged their rules and bureaucracy to make obtaining legal permission to exercise an enumerated right, while making it both inconvenient and very expensive to do so. Remember poll taxes? Literacy tests?

Now that obstacles for people of color to exercise their rights, the shoe is on the other foot, and they prefer that we not endanger their protected criminal classes, or defend ourselves against their predation.

No good deed goes unpunished, apparently. Recalling the valiant efforts of American Jews to oppose racism and restore the rights of the black folk, it seems that anti-Semitism is on the rise in that ungrateful community. Of course, the racism emanation from the ivory towers of the Ivy League has never gone away, and the media owned and operated by that privileged class is still strongly opposed to the Jews, and to the Asians, whose work ethic and scholarship is a threat to their institutions of Higher Validation.

The effort to destroy the middle classes is bearing fruit. It seems that we are the filling in the sh!t sandwich, which they find to be in bad taste.

Some might differ, but they'd be cancelled.

So DC is saying that you have to do the full 16 hours for DC?

Yup. By a DC_qualified instructor. Also the want a pile of documentation, IIRC, and 50 round course of fire. ANd money. And each pistol you choose to carry must be listed on your permit, and it costs $13.50 for each one beyond the first, again IIRC.

I hear that most carriers in DC are undocumented, so to speak, even if they're not in the thug classes. It's easy to understand why.

You Can take a single 16 hour class , from an Instructor who is dual certified by both Maryland and D.C. ( there are multiple of them out there ) . So if you plan ahead , you can get both certs for the price of one .

D.C used to accept Maryland training , Plus a short add on training covering D.C. Law , but they stopped that .

Everyone out there not yet having taken a Maryland 16 hr class , no reason to not get a Dual Certified class , if living or working anywhere vaguely in proximity to D.C.

But as Bob points out , if you didn't do it initially , it's $$ to do individually later .

Interesting. Thanks for the background on that.

    How it's going:

She got heckled in Ward 7.

They moved along Minnesota Avenue, a corridor that has significant levels of crime. At one point they were heckled by young men standing in front of a liquor store.

“Stop telling them lies,” one yelled, “Tell the truth about what’s going on!”

The group of walkers was surrounded by a half dozen or more police officers.

    Nice escort there.

Pinto at one point stopped in an area strong with the smell of marijuana and asked one young man for his ideas.

“We need to talk to each other,” said one resident before interjecting that he was “wasted, right now.”

He did go on to tell her that the contingent of police traveling with the group was intimidating to him.

    Incredible stuff here. Groundbreaking outreach.

Understood. I got DC before doing MD so my experience was different than yours.

You could try to time your DC Class/Application with your MD Renewal. There are some courses out there which do combined DC/MD for new and renewal.

That’s probably the least painful way to do this IMHO.
