Downstate Republicans may do as they wish, but since the US Constitution requires consent of both the state being divided and the US Congress ... its moot. Upstate Democrats would never consent to giving up control of LowerSlower and Harry Reid et al would never allow 2 new Republican US Senators.

Find a way around those 2 problems and you are golden, until then:

    Solution ...

Setup a toll booth on the westbound Kent Island side and divert all vehicles with liberal-themed bumper stickers through it, slowing them down on their way home from the shore and making them pay 10 cents per occupant as penance to offset the unjust taxes imposed on DelMarVa.

And put up a sign sort of like this.

    OWE'Malley Thru-Way ... Now what'll that ******* think of next? :lol2:

Why do you think the present toll boths are eastbound? Nobody in their right mind would pay to go west ... :D

    Glen Burnie
Saw a car yesterday when leaving Gold's Gym Glen Burnie with a "eastern shore secession" bumper sticker. Is this like an actual movement with some real support or something that just gets talked about every couple of years?

It has been talked about since the 1800's.

There was enough noise and saber rattling back in the 1950's to get free road maintenance out of Annapolis for the Eastern Shore for decades. Its the reason the State Roads Commission crews had such a heavy presence on the Eastern Shore until a few years back.

Most folks on the Shore that I know have always figured it had more to do with giving Baltimoreans a smooth ride to the beach. It wasn't for us, it was for them.

    This.

As discussed in other posts on this site. If the counties join another state instead of forming a new one they do not have to seek U.S. Congressional approval. The need only seek approval of the neighbor states. Odds are it will never happen.

Maybe someone here in this thread can provide guidance as to how this could be done.

So if every county except the ones touching DC join Delaware, we are good to go? Hmmm... How would we unload Baltimore?

It would not explain why Somerset, Kent and Cecil were included. They have noting to do with getting to the beach.
