Welcome Chief! ID be happy to check it out, but due to time constraints, there is no way for me to get down to MoCo.
With the markings scrubbed on the barrel, sadly there is not much value there, maybe 50-70 bucks. With markings, it could have been 100-200. The only salvageable parts are the receiver and bolt and the rear sight parts.
With that said, if its in shootable condition with a decent bore id make an offer on it if you want to sell it.
BTW, welcome to MDS. Lotta good people on here with alot of great knowledge.
Thanks and to be honest, I was really only trying to figure out what it was. I'm not interested in selling it but I am planning to shoot it when I get some rounds for it. Now that I have a pretty good idea of what it is, I can do that.
If the barrel shank has truly been scrubbed then the only clue left would be marks on the bottom of the receiver tang. You would have to remove the action from the stock to see them.
Wow. The mix of Pine Tar & Turpentine smells great. I am not sure the wife will enjoy the smell in the AM. I have the circulation fans running on 'high'. I am thinking about 2 more coats.
1) Removed Poly Coat with Orange Stripper
2) Used Mineral Spirits on the cleaned Stock
3) Applied 2 X Coats of Pine Tar & Turpentine (thanks to a friend for mailing me the Pine Tar!)
4) Applied two coats of Tom's 1/3 Mix
I am not sure if the the stock came out dark enough, but is was super light before with the coat of poly.
Daaaaaaamn. That looks nice. I'm gonna have to do that to one of my M44s. You just used Tom's for the finish? When I used it on the wood furniture on my PTR91, it came out more semi-gloss; not as shiny as yours. You just applied two coats? Did you do anything special?
