Yes, they did. The EPA said they had nothing in the works, at least not THEN, but who knows what they'll do, or when. If they would pass make a legal determination that the air we exhale is a polluter, what's to stop them from saying the same about lead?

Yeah, really, they need to do something about all the lead. I mean, look at all those Civil War battlefields that are HazMat sites now, no one can go there because of all those tons of lead that broke down and seeped into the ground... :sarcasm:

If you want to see something that hurts breeding pairs of bald eagles, look at the off-base housing in Indian Head. There was a pair that came back every year, but they abandoned it early last year and haven't come back this year. Sure, I know they could build a new nest somewhere else, but the females of multiple pairs don't get along well. Anyone remember George and Martha? Limitation of nesting area, I'm sure, is a bigger threat than lead.

If a lead ban were likely (?), then people better hold off buying existing ammo, so they don't get caught short with the leaded stuff, hence taking a bath on their holdings.
A huge no. of people would suffer monetary loss, depending on how things would be handled. If they allowed the leaded ammo to be runoff (used up), and just required new manufacture to be unleaded, then maybe it would work and have some justice to it.
Of course, those in the lead business would suffer immensely. Also, ammo costs would be higher for everyone, including for our military, while the enemy continues to use lead. Just what we need what with higher fuel , food, metals (copper, etc.) costs.
Just thinking out loud about the effects of such prohibition and its downside.
    What say you?

The EPA has no authority to ban the ammunition, and such legislation to 1) give them the authority or 2) enforce the ban would have 0% chance of passing the house. Don't think this is going to happen.
