    The is a British Enfield in the want ad digest for what it is its a good price i believe 225$ without a clip but it looks like its in good shape

    If its been built on surplus parts, ex a romanian parts kit on a us reciever, and using the original piston, the cup will be black.

    Are you trying to determine if an ak you are looking at is new or used?

    Yeah you can scrape the carbon buildup off if it bothers you, but it'll be right back next time you take the gun out. It doesn't hurt anything.

    If you are asking the question to judge the rounds fired on a rifle, look at the bolt. After a few thousand rounds you'll start to see a "primer burn" which appears as a faint ring about halfway between the firing pin and extractor.
