I have been using Original Fireline for years. It seems they are phasing that line out. I can find it online but its pretty damn expensive. I love how it casts and the no stretch on hooksets.
What have you all found to be your favorite braid on spinning reels? I mainly fish for trout, crappies and perch with some catfishing mixed in. I rarely target bass anymore. Most times I will be casting spinners and jigs.

10-12# test Spider wire translucent(they used to call it clear I think) and a 3' fluorocarbon leader tied on with a surgeon's knot.

I never used a leader with Fireline except when fishing for shad. Stiff, heavy mono works well for that. What is the reason you use flouro on your set up?

My line of choice is Diawa Samurai braid. I have been using it on my spinning reels for many years and love the stuff. I go with 30lb. green. It has 30lb strength with a 6lb diameter. But they have others too. On my really lite setups I go with Berkley Nanofil. That line has be discontinued and I can't find it anymore. The Samurai baid lasts forever. You will get several seasons with it. It is on the costly side of line but its worth it to me.

I use that on all my bass spinning gear because of its increased sensitivity and invisibility under water. It is a little stiffer than mono.

Most of the water I fished on the lower and upper Potomac(as well as Susquehanna) is shallow and clear. Fluoro does not refract/reflect sunlight like mono does. On the tidal Potomac, I used mostly Senkos, unweighted and drifting along the edges of grass beds. I would also drop them into holes in the grass beds. The whitish Spiderwire would float in the surface tension of the water while the leader would sink down into the strike zone. If a flea landed on or touched any part of that rig, you would see it in the Spiderwire before you ever felt the bite. It was deadly as hell.

On the upper Potomac, I'd use the same set-up, but with either tube baits, hair jigs(light ones), and Fluke type baits, depending on the time of year. Same deal on the Susquee.

With Fluke fishing, I recommend a small swivel between leader and running line. Otherwise, you get a good bit of line twist.

Fluorocarbon is very hard to see underwater- it becomes virtually invisible and is great for weary fish. It is a significant improvement in clear water.
    .
    Nevermind, Outrider already answered this.
You probably know, fluorocarbon line first gained popularity in the saltwater fish sports.

Berkley X9, Suffix 832, or my newest one is Suffix Nanobraid. The Nanobaid s great for lighter stuff. I use the 2 and 4lb test. Always a leader with it as the abrasion resistance isn't much. Last year I caught a 25" striper on the 2lb and a 1/16oz roadrunner.

I haven't yet switched to braid, mainly because I'm too stupid to tie and FG knot LOL

So for now, im turning seagur tatsu floracarbon. Not cheap but good luck with it so far.

I too have used Fireline since it came out. IMHO it’s the GOAT of braided lines. In recent times I’ve done more freshwater fishing so I switched to all flouro except two rods for top water lures. In that case I just buy whatever is cheapest, and Walmart usually has decent deals on Spiderwire.
