I've had my .308 POF for about a year and have not had the glass to shoot it. I ended up picking up something inexpensive just to see if I could get a good zero.
Optic: Vortex Crossfire II BDC 3-9 x 40 $150.00 (if I remember correctly, but close)
Rings: Vortex Hunter $17.99
Rifle: POF .308, 16" barrel, 1:10 twist
Ammo: 147g / 165g
First off, I had no issues holding zero. No issue with cheap rings coming loose. I zero'ed at 100 yards with the 147g (sorry, can't remember the brand) and had roughly a 5moa group at the 100. When I switched to the 165g (can't remember the brand of this either) the group cut down roughly half to 2.5/3 moa. From my zero, I went out to the 300, no changing of elevation or windage, but used the BDC hash mark for the 300 and hit a bowling pin on the first shot (this was 147g round). Overall, the rifle performed well and I was impressed with the glass for a cheap option. It won't stay on there forever, but just until I can get some money together for something better. Just thought I'd put this up there for anyone that may need a cheaper option.
