I noticed a lot of people do not clear around their local fire hydrant when it snows. It's not that hard, just do it!
Had to tell folks on my street not to pile snow on top of ours! I had to explain why. I was dumbfounded.
Heard a story one time where a kid built a big snowman over/around a fire hydrant. A bunch of high schoolers thought it would be funny to run down the snowman in their car and well.....

let the houses burn...
~Last year I dug out the closest hydrant to my house (actually was during snowmegedon I stand corrected). Our hydrant is at the end of the street exactly where it is most easy for the guys pushing the plow to stack deep. If we had a fire tonight we would be in big trouble.
I did notice they put flags on every hydrant an fiberglass rods on each corner of each drain. All was promptly ignored in my neighborhood. Why not have the plow guys plant the markers?

That is incredible.
I always make sure my fire hydrant is cleared.
