How much do you think for a decent 870 express? And I don't really have a problem going for used, as long as it's not too abused I've had good luck with used guns before (except for an old winchester 30-30 that was just a bear, but that's for another day).
Benelli Supernova Tactical. Pure Sexy.
+1
My first 12 gauge was a Benelli Supernova Tactical. Couldn't be happier. I've fired 2 3/4", 3" and 3 1/2" shot and shells downrange and I've never had a problem. My buddy has an 870 and its a good gun but it doesn't do great with certain brands of shells. Another buddy of mine has a Winchester and I really like his shotgun too. I've never seen it have a problem.
I love the Supernova so much I'm planning on buying another one to shoot skeet/bird hunt with. I've done it with the Tactical, but I find it hard to acquire clay pigeons with my ghost ring sights. Plus I'm sure a longer barrel and removable chokes would be nice. The Tactical also has a pistol grip which I love but is probably not ideal for skeet/bird hunting. The Tactical is great for HD and for shooting slugs. I've had alot of success shooting Brenneke rifled slugs at ranges up to 100 yds. Haven't tried anything further than that.
Good luck!
What are you going to use the gun for? If you are doing the HD thing I would recommend one thing, for hunting and depending on what you're hunting I would recommend something else. For clays yet an entirely different gun. You didn't mention what that budget actually is. A budget to one person might mean a gun just to say you have a gun and lean it against a tree and take pictures (sorry August) and those you can buy for a song and a dance. To others a budget might take on a different meaning for a gun that will be dedicated to a specific task and shot on a regular basis.... it could be a good basic quality gun that won't really break the bank up to something very well made and costly in some eyes, yet still within someone's budget, whatever that is.

I'd say how I feel but my post would just be deleted AND I'd be feeding a troll that's already been banned once.
Just trying to call a spade a spade... know what I mean Vern?
